OUR FOALS

Our foals are imprinted at birth. They are wormed regularly every 6 weeks and vaccinated between 2 and 3 months of age. We wean at various ages, but we like to keep them with their dam until they are at least 4 months. We prefer keeping them with the dam until about 6 months of age, (as long as she stays in good shape and doesn't start to lose weight). Many times buyers of our foals are anxious to get their new babies home, so in these cases we will wean them at 4 months. We keep our mares and foals on good fertilized pasture where the foals can romp and play together. We also offer free choice to all the good quality bermuda hay they can eat. We feed our own grain mixture (made by Chuck) of corn, alfalfa pellets, oats and vitamins to the mares and foals twice a day. Weaned foals are fed the same grain mixture with calf manna added 3 times a day. Most of our foals are sold before they become 2 year olds.

PET PEEVES

Our policy is to never do business with anyone that talks down another Foxtrotter breeder or their horses. Unfortunately, it is in some people's nature to run everyone else down. Frankly, it sickens us, and we just do not wish to do business with such people. Enough said.

"BROTHERHOOD OF MAN"

One time a cowboy stopped to pray when sunset skies were red:
"I know I ain't important, Lord, like some folks are," he said,

"But ridin' after cattle out here in this western land,
I try to set my saddle straight and try to wear your brand.

I ain't seen on Sunday's in those churches there in town,
but with your ancient temple of the outdoors all around,

I see your holy handiwork in flower, tree and grass,
and the glory of your sunset seems as holy as a mass.

Yet nature ain't the whole of it. At night when stars swing low,
I think about a special star that shone so long ago

in honor of a Holy Child whose birth turned out to be
the greatest blessing to the world throughout all history.

He came to bring peace to the hearts of all men of good will,
and when I think what price He paid up on Golgotha's hill,

my heart lifts up in gratitude. Although my words are weak
I hope somehow you'll hear at least a few of them I speak.

I ask no special favors, Lord, that's meant for me alone,
but here's the plea I'm trying to send up to your heavenly throne.

Don't let men's hearts be bitter, Lord, just do the best you can
to help your Son bring unto us the brotherhood of man!"

HORSES IN THE BIBLE

Job 39:19 - Hast thou given the horse strength? Hast thou clothed his neck with thunder?

Job 39:20 - Canst thou make him afraid as a grasshopper? The glory of his nostrils [is] terrible.

Job 39:21 - He paweth in the valley, and rejoiceth in [his] strength: he goeth on to meet the armed men.

Job 39:22 - He mocketh at fear, and is not affrighted; neither turneth he back from the sword.

Job 39:23 - The quiver rattleth against him, the glittering spear and the shield.

Job 39:24 - He swalloweth the ground with fierceness and rage: neither believeth he that [it is] the sound of the trumpet.

Job 39:25 - He saith among the trumpets, Ha, ha; and he smelleth the battle afar off, the thunder of the captains, and the shouting.
